For the Art of Storytelling in New Media

In Media Centre Lume and Media Lab, University of Art and Design Helsinki, Crucible Studio studies and develops narration of the digital, non-linear and interactive media. Studio's goal is to achieve deeper emotional experiences in the interactive media and to create production methods to develop content and technology simultaneously in the multi-talented teams of artists, designers, scientists and technology experts.

Modes of Action

Studio's activities are divided into three sectors:

1. Practise Based Research productions combine state-of-the-art expertise of design, drama, and technology. Productions are developed as applied research cases with industrial partners.

2. Education that combines expertise and resources of the different department in the University of Art and Design Helsinki, and different Universities and research institutions.

3. Coordinating and Networking maps the development of the research, education and production of the interactive drama on an international scale and brings together professionals of the multidisciplinary fields in collaborations and joint events.
