Accidental Lovers (Sydän kierroksella) is an interactive musical TV-comedy that explores variations of a deadly love relationship between 61-year-old cabaret singer Juulia and 30 years younger pop star Roope.

Accidental Lovers introduces a new interactive format and genre for television. Viewers can affect the unfolding drama, its turns and outcomes of the plot, by sending mobile messages to the broadcast. Each message is scanned for keywords that can cause particular type of thoughts (voiceover audio clips) in the main characters. As the keyword data cumulates, the characters' relationship will start to change according to the text message chat.

The Finnish National Broadcasting Company YLE will broadcast Accidental Lovers in the end of 2006.

As a research production Accidental Lovers has three main research goals:
1. To identify and formulate an effective working rhetoric for keyword triggered dialogue where the main characters not only engage in conversation between themselves but also react meaningfully to the incoming text messages.
2. To discover the optimum organisation of media elements in order to create a satisfying narrative experience at every broadcast session.
3. To ensure a rewarding user-experience for text-message-based interaction where both individual and viewers as community will have an effect on the story.

Accidental Lovers has received script-writing support from AVEK, The Promotion Centre for Audiovisual Culture, Finland, and development funding from the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, Canada, as well as research and production funding from EC IST program and the Finnish National Broadcasting company YLE.

June 2003 Accidental Lovers won the Banff Centre New Media CyberPitch, presented by the Telefilm Canada as the courtesy of the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, at the Banff2003 television festival.

Sydän kierroksella on vuorovaikutteinen musikaalikomedia rakkaudesta, jossa Juulia (61-vuotias kabareelaulaja) ja Roope (30-vuotias rokkitähti) kohtaavat toisensa erilaisissa rakkaussuhteiden
variaatiossa.

Katsojat voivat vaikuttaa tarinan kulkuun lähettämällä tekstiviestejä, jotka viestistä tunnistettavien avainsanojen perusteella aiheuttavat päähenkilössä jonkin tietyn ajatuksen. Tekstiviestien ja avainsanatietojen karttuessa henkilöiden kohtalo ja tarina muuttuu.

Teos on tällä hetkellä jälkituotantontovaiheessa ja esitetään loppuvuodesta 2006. Se on Crucible Studion ja YLE:n draamaosaston yhteistuotanto. Teknologiaa kehitetään NM2-projektin puitteissa.
